Abstract submission guidelines

Abstract Submission Deadline: 22nd April, 2019

The PACON 2019 Program Committee invites abstract submissions for presentation at the 26th International Conference “Marine Science and Technology for Sustainable Development” 16-19 July 2019 in Vladivostok, Russia.

All abstracts must be submitted electronically via PACON Conference Website (https://www.pacon-conference.org/). Abstracts can only be submitted online. Abstracts submitted by regular mail, fax or e-mail will not be considered.

During the abstract submission process, you will be given the opportunity to select your preferred presentation format. Specifically, abstracts can be submitted for presentation in an oral session or a poster session. The PACON Program Committee will do their best to accommodate your preferences.

Authors are strongly advised to submit prior to the deadline and avoid unnecessary delays, which may affect the standing of their abstract.

Abstract Guidelines

  • For the abstract, please use the provided template only (Word Template).

  • Each abstract should be maximum one page long, A4 paper format (8.3 x 11.7 inches or 210 x 297 mm), including title, authors list and affiliation, references and acknowledgments.

  • Do not include figures, tables or pictures.

  • All abstracts must be submitted and presented in English with a quality of spelling and grammar suitable for publication. Poorly written submission will be rejected.

  • The title of the abstract should be concise and accurately describe the study undertaken. Do not use non-standard abbreviations and commercial names (generic names only).

  • Abstracts should be structured to include the following 4 sections:

  • Background: introductory sentence specifying the purpose of the study

  • Material and methods: brief description of relevant experimental procedures

  • Results: summary of the results of the investigation

  • Conclusions: a statement of the main conclusions

  • Up to 3 keywords should be provided to distinguish the abstract for indexing purposes.

  • Applicants should indicate the format they would prefer to present their abstracts:

  1. Oral presentations

  2. Poster presentations

  • There is no limit to the number of abstracts an author may submit, although only one as first author is allowed. However, students and early career scientists are allowed to submit one oral and one poster as first author, provided if the topic of abstracts are different. The presenting author must attend the conference and be available to give the oral presentation or to present the poster. 

  • Before you begin the submission process, please prepare the following information:

  4. Phone number where you can easily be reached

  1. A copy of your abstract that you will be required to upload during the submission process.
    SECURITY FIREWALL: Some firewalls do not allow downloads. If it is your case, complete the process without downloading your document and email it at pacon2019@poi.dvo.ru

Abstract Selection Notification

Authors will be notified of the abstract acceptance/rejection before 15th May, 2019.

Presenting Author Registration

Submitting an abstract for presentation at PACON 2019 does not constitute registration for the conference.

Upon receiving of abstract approval abstract presenters must register to attend the PACON 2019 Conference.

Accepted abstracts will be published in the Conference publications only if the presenting author is registered and full payment has been received.

Author responsibility

With the submission of an abstract to PACON 2019 Conference, the presenting author:

  • Accepts responsibility for the accuracy of the submitted abstract.

  • Accepts to be the contact person for all correspondence regarding the abstract and inform co-authors of its status.

  • Confirms that all authors are aware of and agree to the content of the abstract and support the data presented.

  • States that for all studies involving human or animal subjects, permission has been obtained from the relevant regulatory authority and informed consent given where appropriate.

  • Identifies, obtains and discloses any financial interest in products or processes described in the abstract for all abstract authors. This includes stock ownership, membership on an advisory board or board of directors, corporate-sponsored research and other substantive relationships. 

  • Submitted abstracts cannot be withdrawn after 29 June 2019
